The glamorous night for Annual Glitz Awards BW celebs is finally taking place this Saturday at Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).

One factor that Glitz Awards boasts of is gathering local celebrities under one roof to honor them. Chairman at Glitz Awards, Dickson Gothaang told Vibe that they have been preparing for the day, and only awaiting to deliver the best on the glitz night. His says this year’s event is bigger and better compared to the initial event that took place last year.

“Preparations for the much-awaited event have been going smoothly with anticipation of having some well known celebrities and Awards organisers from South Africa as well,” said Gothaang.

While people should look out for style, elegance and classy fashion on this event, they should also be tuned in for the exciting lineup performances of the night. Performers of the day include; Han C, Fifie Afrika, Mapetla with balanced traditional music from Isizwa and poet from kunkuru. For international acts, they anticipate amazing performances from the vibrant Ntate Stunna of Stimela hit, Rethabile Khumalo , killorbeezbeats , Roses Shades

Djs and Dj Rose.

Gothaang reiterated that there is an amazing transition from last year’s event. “There are a lot of differences and improvement this year. Last year we postponed twice due to factors beyond our control. Last year’s winners were awarded with trophies only, but this year there are extra incentives, showing that there is growth in these awards,” he said, adding that this year, they have also included new categories in order to cover inclusiveness in spheres of society. The new categories include; best GBV activist, best community builder, upcoming community builder, best photographer, overall best dresser and overall winner of the night.

This year’s awards have 44 categories, six of which are not competed for, including two honourary awards, two for lost heroes and heroines, most achieved celebrity of the year and one health sector related award.

Gothaang also clarified that overally, their winners choice is based on the number of votes one got, as there has been voting lines open for the public to nominate their favourite celebrities. Besides this criterion used for choosing nominees, they would also award character, popularity, sense of dress and CSR.*

“For the first time this year, nominees are voted in larger numbers as compared to last year, and there is positive feedback from voters,” said Gothaang.

Closing date for votes is 27th October 2023 at 06:00 hrs, and Gothaang reminded fans that they still have a chance to award their favourite nominees.
