Citizen-owned stationery and office supply firm, BMS (Pty) Ltd recently marked two years of manufacturing paper rolls for shop tills and point of sale machines, fulfilling government’s call for greater local production capacity. The 51-year old company employs 107 people and reports that its till roll manufacturing division is steadily increasing production thereby creating more employment opportunities for technicians and sales people as more orders from local retail stores are being placed. BMS began acquiring machinery for the manufacturing of thermal till rolls in June 2020 and started supplying thermal till rolls and point of sale rolls to the local market in September 2020. Manufacturing engineer, Mompati Ngwako advised clients to always confirm the length of the roll, the paper used as well as the density, explaining that once they understand this, they will see the short cuts some suppliers take and the associated procurement cost implications.
