SEATS STEAKHOUSE WARMS UP GAME CITY
PHEMELO RAMASU BG REPORTER
Bringing a new breeze and a whole new experience, the new tenant in the Game City mall happens to be none other than Seats Steakhouse. Offering clients an unparalleled service when it comes to the whole ambience and atmosphere, and this right here is promising to be a whole new ball game when it comes to Restaurants in town.
Seats Steakhouse, located at what was formerly the Seasons Grace Garden Centre, opened its doors almost two weeks ago, and has already won the hearts of some clients who are literally blown away by its product offering. The brains behind the restaurants Boago Seatle, a man who has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to building brands in the Hospitality industry, restaurants in particular. He has amassed close to twenty years of experience, and when he speaks about the vision that he has for his new baby, it is something else. The name Seats has a sentimental meaning to him. Initially when it started, it was a special tribute to his wife, Tsholofelo Seatle. And then his eldest daughter sort of rearranged the name to Seatle Eats. Eventually, they settled on the current name.
To sit and hear, how he intends to cultivate a whole new brand, eventually transforming it into an international Franchise, that will capture the Namibian, Zambian, Zimbabwean and then South African market, this right here is something that he has been dreaming and looking forward to building for years. And it is such a delight to listen to him oozing passion and energy. The energetic and zealous Seatle has been a formidable force in the local and South African restaurant market. His handprints can be seen at some of the long- standing brands/ franchises locally, and in South Africa.
Style paid a courtesy visit to the new eatery on Monday this week. Seatle, a very hands- on leader is on the floor, chatting with customers. A breath of fresh air, this is a man who knows what he wants to offer his clients, and he will do anything to give them value for their money. A ball of energy, and just intentional when it comes to conversations, he tells this publication that his dream is to give clients a serene and beautiful place where they can create memories. His place, he says, is family orientated, and is not specific to anyone. You can come in wearing sneakers and jeans, and he and his troupe will welcome you openly. While it is still early days to say more about this place, what the Style team has observed is how this place has a new serene feeling about it. You can literally walk in hurried and hoping that you are just popping in and out for a bite, next thing you are sitting there for over an hour. Adding to the whole mood, is the soft choice of music, particularly the 90’ s R& B hits, that leave many softly singing along, evoking memories that are locked tightly in a vault. This is exactly what he wants his clients to experience.
“We want to see customers that can come in and read a book, work on their laptop or sit there and sing along. We are giving clients a place where they can get good food, good vibes,” he explains highlighting that they are not planning to get a DJ or transform the place into one of those restaurants that sort of look like clubs.
The passion that Seatle has to see his clients creating memories is carried through when he starts talking about the diverse menu that he is offering clients. Take for example, Sushi. He has two varieties, and for those who are not fond of eating raw fish, he has a vegetarian option for them. Before you turn up your nose, and start thinking of how you are not ready to test your palette, he is quick to assure one that they have nothing to worry about. The vegetarian Sushi is a whole new creation, he says, and he is not afraid to challenge even the fussy eaters to try it, and with his coaxing, one finds themselves enjoying the Sushi. On the palette, the sushi with a dash of soy sauce is delectable. This reporter had to take two/ three bites of the sushi, each bite, even tastier.
“We have crafted a high- end menu for our clients You can find options such as Sushi. We want to dispel the notion that some people are afraid to eat raw fish in sushi. We also offer another option where a client can create their own sushi,” he explains, noting that they wish to see more people embracing Sushi.
He further says that for their sushi, they use either crap or salmon fish.
“We recently had clients here who are vegetarians and they enjoyed that option,” he points out. Clients can also look forward to options on the menu such as prawns, three pasta dishes, as well as Catch of the day. The catch of the day, he explains is dependent on availability. He also points out that they are very particular with the Bream, which features as Catch of the day. They are sourcing the Bream from Shakawe. Because they want to serve clients the best fish, they only source fish which was transported via a truck instead of a cooler box. He also highlights that because of the trick that comes with serving bream, they also want to get the right size. “We do not want to take chances,” he notes adding that this is why the Catch of the day will be available at certain times. As they are a steak house, he further shares that they also have an array of meat dishes. This is where, he shows off. They source super meat, which is a whole new ball game. The meat is matured, with a different taste to regular meat. “It is tender and tasty. We do not want to compromise on quality. We are eliminating instances where clients will be complaining about tough cuts of meat,” he notes. He also highlights that because of his experience, he has the skills to read customers, which is where his skills in the different departments come from. Seatle also points out that one thing that he wants his team to understand is that when one part of the restaurant is stuck, another team member can help out, which makes for smooth running. “We believe that first impressions last,” he explains.
So far, he notes that the reception has been phenomenal. He is looking forward to adding other exciting elements to the restaurants, and can’t wait for his clients to see the place as it grows. New additions to look forward to include a kiddies play area.
