TSE DITONA ARE BACK! ARE BACK!Dikakapa Tse Ditona are back with a bang following a short break.
Their vibe and enthusiasm for their craft nonetheless remains the same. The vibrant and solidified group recently launched a new album as a tribute to one of their own, the late Gong Master aka Tau Ya Koma.
It’s not only about remembering their fallen hero through song, but to use the album to raise funds to honor the legend with a tombstone. The new album, ‘Tribute Gong Master’ boasts of eight rich songs including; Maaparankwe, Tribute, Lekgwantlhana, Selestina, Se ntseye jalo, Kakapa tse di tona, maapara nkwe Acappela and mmapatsi phokwana.
The main song of the album, Tribute (Gong Master) was composed and lead by Abednico Baitsile. The colourful album is beautifully balanced with almost all the group members leading a particular song, with their usual rich lyrics meant to change lives than just to enthuse traditional music lovers.
One trait about Dikakapa is that they are passionate about Setswana language. They do not only promote the language on their music but also speak fluent Setswana adorned by rich proverbs and idioms.
They kept the audience thrilled with their excellent language skills during the recent launch and press conference at Molapo Showcase. A lot has agreed at the press conference that this one traditional group is simply influential, elegant and naturally exist to elevate the genre of traditional music. They were the second traditional group to be nominated for the Kora Awards in Botswana, after Machesa and they are forever grateful for paving the way in that regard. The group through their selfless dedication and collaboration simply makes traditional music fashionable. During the press briefing, the group left the media in awe as they performed their song and danced, this time, not in their traditional regalia, but in their smart casual clothes, yet still showing off what they are made up of. Dikakapa wishes to start their fundraising campaign for the tombstone in Ranaka, where the late Gong Master hails from. They reiterated that it was not easy coping with the fact that they had lost a team member and someone who often gave them advice. Traditional Music Promoter at Afro-Heavens Creations, Chilly Segona applauded Dikakapa for their heartfelt brand new album in honoring Gong Master and shared that the group has always been inspirational from way back and simply always have a story to tell through their music.
