In order to embrace the dance talent in Botswana, Red Bull through their globally renowned ‘Dance Your Style challenge’ will give local dancers an opportunity to be part of this movement.

This creative and fun project would be launched in Gaborone, from tomorrow (Thursday) and on Friday. Junior da King, runner up at the recent Red Bull Dance Your Style Durban finals told Vibe that they are excited for this opportunity and hopeful that it will resurrects dance talent in Botswana.

“This multilocation, multicultural dance experience looks to embrace the Botswana dance culture and bring some of the best talent Do It Yourself (DYS) has to offer,” said Junior. She emphasized that the winner to the competition will have multiple benefits in growing as a dancer.

The current winner of this competition from South Africa, Senzo Bhengu better known as VERB, told Vibe in an interview that winning this competition has been a life changing experience for her. “I specialize in a style of dance called Krump and I have been entering Red Bull Dance Your Style competition for about four years now. I have won Durban Qualifiers and I have always made finals or top four nationally, but this year I won the National Finals in South Africa,” he explained, adding that he is excited and honored to be representing South Africa on this platform.

“I’m also excited about the opportunities to connect with international dancers. The competition needs one to be able to adapt, and so it challenges me to my think outside the box and continually improve my style of dance,” he said. He is currently running her dance academy where he trains people in dance.

VERB has further advised local dancers interested in the competition to utilize this opportunity and set higher goals for themselves. “No matter how little or big these goals are, you should work hard to achieve them, and trust the process. I never gave up as I targeted winning this competition, and here I am. So Botswana dancers should also join the competition with this similar mentality,” he said.
