PULA! BACK ON STAGE

PHEMELO RAMASU

For a while now, Batswana have been calling for the return of one of the best productions produced in Botswana.

The electrifying production happens to be none other than, Pula! The Musical, a Mophato Dance Theatre production which in 2018 made history as the first local production to premier at Broadway. A captivating and enthralling tale about a young woman who now has to learn the ropes of how to be the rainmaker, Pula made headlines across the world. Earlier, this week, the Director of Mophato Dance Theatre, Andrew Kola shared the news on Facebook about this big return, noting that they are answering the call by local fans. In true Mophato style, he also revealed yet another exciting development about this big return. Former Miss World- Botswana 2021, Palesa Molefe is joining the cast as Mmapula, the rainmaker. She is joined by the captivating Ntirelang Berman, who was also in the original production. Also joining them is none other than Kalima Mipata, a dance extraordinaire, as the boyfriend to Mmapula. Gabriel Modise is also part of the cast, yet again as the Narrator. For those who have been privileged to see the original piece, this will be something else. For starters, one can’t help but wait anxiously to see the magic between Molefe, and Mipata. One thing that is for sure is that they will literally be fire on stage. With an almost new cast, it will be interesting to see how this cast will bring to life the story that Batswana so loved. The big return is on April 20th ( corporate night), and April 21st & 22nd. Pula, as the name suggest is a story about a newly wed young woman who now has to learn what it takes to be a rainmaker, a craft that she learns from her father, to be played by Berman.
