Recharged Malobela returns
Following some months of inconsistency and dreadful performances, local table tennis star Boago Malobela believes that he is moving in the right direction, having been called up to the national team after the Table Tennis Tournament hosted by Lefika Club a fortnight ago.
While Malobela had a year to forget, the hard hitting player had a very positive start to the new year having made it to the national team this far. “I am really happy to be back after a long time, full of disappointment in the past,” he said.
He said lack of training cost him a lot from 2021 to 2022. “I was staying in Palapye where I hardly trained, which affected me in the 2022 season.” Malobela was often disqualified from several tournaments and league matches for the first time in his career which lowered his confidence and affected his performance. The 2020 Botswana Independence Tournament winner says he just got one thing in his mind which is to give his all in all competitions and rebuild his confidence to enjoy the game like never before. His first task will be to compete in the upcoming ITTF Southern Region World Qualifiers 2023 that will be hosted in Gaborone, Botho University from the 29 June to 02 July 2023.
“Being in the National team comes with pressure to deliver good results for the Nation, I opt to do my level best always, to get good and desirable results,” he added.
From now going forward his main objective is to win at least 1 or 2 local tournaments this season. It remains to be seen whether the player will get back to his winning ways and once more give out his brilliant performances on a regular basis.
