Dinaledi’, as Galaxy are commonly known, have brushed off the challenge of the other three sides in the league who were looking to acquire the services of the left footed attacker ahead of the January transfer window and a 2 year deal has reportedly been wrapped up. “It is done, it is only a matter of making the announcements, and Jwaneng Galaxy really showed great desire to sign him, probably because they know his quality. It wasn’t easy because a lot of clubs wanted to sign him; even in Tanzania but, Galaxy are in the champions League and are currently doing very well, so they are an interesting project,” a source close to the development revealed. “He felt little appreciated at GU, imagine this is a guy who scored 10 goals on the second round of the season after joining from Orapa United; he followed that up by scoring 16 goals last season, second top scorer after Thatayaone Kgamanyane at the club, but he always had to battle accusations of sabotage both from his own teammates and the technical team. I think that is why he felt the need to leave,” Sun Sport informer close to the Gaborone United camp said. During their emphatic 4-0 victory over Police XI over the weekend, Thero Setsile was not included in the Gaborone United match-day squad which fueled speculation that the attacker has no future at the club.
Setsile will join another former teammate at Gaborone United being, Thatayaone ‘Popo’ Ramatlapeng who helped Galaxy to secure the league championship last season. Another arrival at Galaxy from Gaborone United is that of Kennedy Amutenya, whose contract was recently terminated by Gaborone giants following accusations of indiscipline alongside striker, Onkabetse Makgantai. Setsile was with Jwaneng Galaxy in the 2019/2020 season and was snapped by the South African side, TS Galaxy after an impressive season which saw him win the golden boot with 18 goals, player of the season award, Mascom Top 8 golden boot winner and Mascom Top 8 player of the tournament. Despite playing a pivotal role at TS Galaxy, leading the scoring charts in the CAF Confederations Cup, he returned to Jwaneng Galaxy before ultimately moving to Orapa United.
Should the deal be confirmed, Mahachi will be joining Galaxy for the third time in his career, having initially arrived at the mining town from Sankoyo mid-way through the season of 2016/2017.
