FRANCISTOWN: Tutume Police Station commander, Superintendent Lesego Kgosiemang has issued an appeal to the public for assistance in identifying an unknown man who has remained unclaimed at the mortuary for two weeks.
The unidentified deceased man was discovered motionless, with head wounds, near a stream in the Selolwane ward of Tutume village. Despite widespread appeals for identification across various media platforms over the past weeks, the individual, believed to be aged between 50 and 65, remains unidentified at the Tutume Primary Hospital Mortuary.
Superintendent Kgosiemang expressed concern that unless someone comes forward to claim the body, the police will eventually have to proceed with burial due to the extended duration of unclaimed status.
“Since it would take some time to bury him, we’re still waiting for people to possibly identify him,” he stated.
Kgosiemang urged individuals, particularly families of those reported missing who match the description of the deceased, to step forward and identify the body.
The deceased man, described by the police as having a coffee-coloured complexion and standing at 1.75 metres tall, is speculated to have had a mental disability, although these claims are yet to be verified.
Furthermore, the circumstances surrounding the unidentified individual’s death remain unclear, and investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
