Pula strengthen against Rand in May
The Pula appreciated by 3.2 percent against the South African rand and depreciated by 2.8 percent against the IMF Special Drawing Rights ( SDR) over the one- month period to May 2023. It depreciated by 4.3 percent against the US dollar, 3.5 percent against the British pound, 1.6 percent against the Chinese renminbi, 1.3 percent against the euro and 1.2 percent against the Japanese yen.
Over the twelve months period to May 2023, the nominal Pula exchange rate appreciated by 10.7 percent against the South African rand and depreciated by 11.8 percent against the SDR. Against the SDR constituent currencies, the Pula depreciated by 13.3 percent against the US dollar, 12.8 percent against the euro, 11.7 percent against the British pound, 7.4 percent against the Chinese renminbi and 5.4 percent against the Japanese yen.
