After winning the Botswana Premier League (BPL) title, Jwaneng Galaxy may find themselves in a very tight corner as a number of key personnel may be on the move. Galaxy were Saturday afternoon crowned the league champions for the second time in history. They won the title with an eight-point difference between them and second placed Gaborone United (GU).

The Jwaneng-based side was superb on the field throughout the season. They collected 72 points, had the most goals with 66 scored but recorded the second least conceded goals (22) this season. The Galaxy Stars recorded the most wins with 22 and lost only two times. However, onlookers are said to be readying to raid the 2022/2023 champions. A number of the play and technical staff are said to have attracted interest locally and abroad. The team’s head coach, Morena Ramoreboli has been rumoured to be on the move to his native country South Africa. As such, he has left the football fraternity guessing in an interview with Sport Monitor. He welcomed the interest but remained coy on his and stars’ future.

“When you do well in life you will attract opportunities but what is important is that what you do with those opportunities and see where you are. If I leave here, am I going for a better opportunity, am I going to make an impact and that is the most important thing. I am happy that they are getting those offers and they have to choose wisely,” Ramoreboli said. The coach has increased his stature in regional football with league championship in Botswana, accompanied by a CAF Champions League group stages appearances.

Additionally Ramoreboli has a COSAFA Cup to add to his resumè. Ramoreboli’s Galaxy might struggle to keep the league’s joint top goal scorer, Thabang Sesinyi. ‘Gaucho’ nearly joined a team in the Middle East but the move fell through on the 11th hour in the last winter transfer window. The forward’s exploits in front of goal is expected to raise interest once more.

Namibian influential forward, Wendell Rudath is said to be in the radar of South African club, SuperSport United while another forward, Daniel Msendami is also tipped for move down south. He has been tremendous in Galaxy’s title win. The Zimbabwean contributed to 22 goals this season in 26 in all appearances.

He scored nine times and has 13 assists this season.

Msendami has received plaudits from abroad and has been likened to Zimbabwean’s super star, Khama Billiat. He is also said to be on the wish-list of South Africa’s second tier side, Cape Town Spurs as interest is predicted to rise in the upcoming transfer window.

“Obvious, I want to be better than him (Billiat). I want to be the best I can be. I just have to keep on working hard and I am happy with progress here. Obvious, a player of my calibre will attract interest and on that (future at Galaxy) I am not sure. I cannot comment,” Msendami said.
