Heads of state of Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Zambia and Eswatini have been confirmed to join President Mokgweetsi Masisi at next month’s US-Africa Business Summit to be held in Gaborone.

The Corporate Council on Africa made the announcement in a statement last week, adding further momentum to an event already eagerly anticipated by various economic actors.

The upcoming Summit is also expected to attract more than 1,000 business leaders to Gaborone, providing a unique platform for the country to position itself for trade and investment.

“The Summit will allow delegates to interact with high-level government officials and business leaders from countries with some of the most promising markets for investments and hear about business opportunities, government policies and success stories,” organisers said. “Delegates will have the opportunity to connect with high-level African government delegations including Heads of State, senior US government officials, CEOs and senior executives of US and African companies.”

The Summit will focus on agribusiness, finance, energy, health, infrastructure, ICT and creative industries. The event is themed “Enhancing Africa’s Value in Global Value Chains,” a key topic as the continent seeks to bolster industrialisation within itself and more balanced trade with the rest of the world. For Botswana,

the Summit presents an opportunity for investment and trade partnership opportunities across various sectors, particularly heightened business to business contact with the US market.President Masisi has said the Summit will highlight Botswana and Africa’s unparalleled potential to advance trade and investment to the benefit of the people of Africa and of the United States.

The US-Africa Business summits are the premier platforms to bring together African heads of state and other senior US and African government officials with top African and American senior business executives.
