To achieve this ambition, it was decided in 2004 that the then building society should transition to a commercial bank, becoming Botswana’s first indigenous commercial bank. A dream that became a reality in 2022 following years of tough behind-the-scenes work.

This decision was met with a lot of excitement, internally and externally. It positioned a brighter future for BBS Bank. It also provided an opportunity for the bank to be built and progressed by Batswana for Batswana.
