A39-year-old woman of Nkosho ward in Letlhakane died after a speeding car hit and killed her on Saturday evening. The woman was attempting to cross the road.

Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu told The Monitor that the tragic incident occurred at around 5pm by the Orapa/Letlhakane junction popular bus stop.

According to Maphephu, a 46-year-old driver of a Toyota Hilux is currently in police custody assisting in the investigation but is likely to be charged with causing death by dangerous driving. “The deceased was rushed to Letlhakane Primary Hospital where she was confirmed dead by doctors on arrival.

Every weekend, especially in the evening, the bus stop is always flocked with people crossing the road hitchhiking hence we plead with drivers to be cautious and drive at minimum speed when approaching this bus stop,” he said.
