Struggling to get over a breakup with a 16-year-old girl, a Tlhomaditlhotse ward, Palapye native lost his life after attacking the minor’s family on Saturday morning.
The furious 38-year-old man pounced on the teenage girl’s family in an attack at around 3am while they were sleeping. He damaged doors and ended up being stabbed to death with his own knife in the attack.
Whilst harassing the family, breaking into every bedroom, he allegedly broke into one where a 25-year-old man was sleeping with his girlfriend. The deceased attacked the couple, fought with the 25-year-old, and ended up being stabbed to death.
Reached for comment, Palapye Central Police Station commander, Superintendent Moses Serojane said they are investigating the matter. He said the teenage girl’s parents had recently discovered the duo’s relationship and reported the matter to the police.
“Whilst in their sleep, the teenage girl’s family was roused from sleep in an attack by the deceased who was breaking down doors while threatening them with a metal rod and a knife. “While fuming, he allegedly broke into a room in which a 25-year-old man was sleeping with his girlfriend but not the aggressor’s minor ex-girlfriend. The 25-yearold tussled with the man until he took his (the deceased) knife and stabbed him to death,” he said.
Serojane said the suspect is currently in police custody on murder charges whilst investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish what transpired.
