A40-year-old man of Nkosho ward in Letlhakane has been arrested after he was found in possession of substances presumed to be drugs. The suspected drug peddler was arrested after a police tip-off on Thursday morning following drug trade suspicions.
The police followed the lead and found him in possession of a 10kg box containing substances suspected to be marijuana and a large plastic estimated to be about 500 grams containing substance suspected to be methcathinone, an illicit drug popularly known on the street as ‘cat’.
Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu said when interrogated by the police, the suspect failed to account for the substances.
“Looking at its quantity we suspect that he might be selling them hence we are investigating the matter to establish the supply.
The suspect is likely to be arraigned before the Letlhakane Magistrate’s Court today (Monday) and we are yet to take the illicit substances for further testing,” he said.
Maphephu said drug use remains a concern in his policing area as they continue to arrest people in possession of large quantities of drugs like dagga, cocaine and cat.
