Brand Botswana, EU boost trade

In its efforts to position Botswana as a destination of choice, Brand Botswana in collaboration with the European Union (EU) in Botswana recently hosted the Nation Brand Strategy Development Validation engagement session in Gaborone. The objective of the event was to share the work that has been done to date and the insights about how Botswana can best be positioned internationally as well as evoke more national pride and patriotism amongst Batswana. The workshop is the latest in a series of activities taking place under the EU-SADC Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Implementation Support Programme in Botswana known as the EPA Programme. When fully implemented, the EPA will facilitate strengthening regional supply chains and the creation

of a sustainable, competitive, export-oriented economy in Botswana. The workshop, ‘Boosting Botswana’s Trade Capacity’, was attended by representatives from government and the private sector and the delegates dissected the draft strategy and gave feedback. BITC COO Anthony Sefako said through the engagement they hope to derive significant insights from participants and collectively develop a national brand strategy that will see them achieving the desired competitiveness and growth both locally and internationally.
