Serowe police probe Thabala murder

Pini Bothoko

The police in Serowe are investigating a case in which a 39-year-old man of Monyepele ward in Thabala succumbed to injuries after he was hit with a knobkerrie on the forehead on Friday night.

The deceased succumbed to the injuries on Saturday afternoon at the Sekgoma Memorial

Hospital where he was hospitalised. No.2 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang said their preliminary investigations have revealed that the deceased was hit with a knobkerrie by a 28-year-old man of the same location following a misunderstanding.

“We are yet to establish the duo’s relationship but the suspect has been arrested and charged with murder. He will be arraigned today (Monday) before the Serowe Magistrate’s Court to face a single count of murder,” he said.

Oketsang further raised concern over fights that erupt when people are entertaining themselves while drinking alcohol usually leading to serious grievous bodily harm or death. He pleaded with members of the public to contain their anger at all times to avoid incidents like these.
