VTM FC marches into Premier league
and resources. As they embark on their next chapter in the Botswana Football League, all eyes will be on this tenacious team, eager to witness their relentless pursuit of greatness on the grandest stage. Back in 2017, visionary chairman and founder of VTM FC, Vincent Mafuta, through his successful Security Company, VTM, bought the status of Mmakgosi FC in Kweneng Region Division One and named it VTM FC. His ambitious target was to see his team play in the premier league in 10 years. VTM has the ability to maintain their stay and do well in premier league, based on how the team is well managed. One of the key things that the leadership of the team has been doing since the VTM FC project started five years ago, is ensuring that the club is run professionally and is well resourced. The growth of the club is evident on how it has transformed through branding in all of their media platforms and the growing number of spectators they attract at their ground.
VTM FC has its own mini stadium which conOlympic sists of artificial turf and stands in Gomononyana, outside Metsimotlhabe, which is well maintained and has hosted Premier League and First Division South matches. VTM FC head coach, Leutlwetse Tshireletso couldn’t hide his excitement after the victory on Saturday; he said he is more than happy to be able to send VTM FC into premier league and are looking forward to the most exciting stay in the elite league. “Our initial plan was to finish the game in 90 minutes, we had a unique approach that carried us through to the victory; we were confident, and we wanted to win it more. On the other hand, Chadibe gave us a very good test, they pushed us to the limit. They however, didn’t do enough to scare us as they just scored from our mistake and that made us to believe we could turn it around,” he said.
He said that it is a big moment for the club to have gained promotion after an intense season and playoffs and a sign that their hard work is paying off. “it’s a relief for the team, we can now go back to the drawing board and prepare for staying in premier league,” he noted.
For his part, Boitshepo Littah Gaegopolwe VTM FC manager said that the club management, players and supporters are happy with the promotion, saying that getting promotion to the Premier League is a big achievement for them looking at the fact that they only spent one season in the First Division.
“We will sit down and make strategies on how we are going to approach playing in the Premiership like we have been doing things. As a team we did know what to expect in the First Division therefore our target for this season was to settle in the top six, however in the second round we managed to accumulate more points that led us into where we are today,” Gaegopolwe noted.
He said that playing in the Premier League will give them a platform to be well known even more and internationally therefore they will continue to work hard and improve their branding. “Coming to the Premier League will be an advantage for our club and company because automatically it will
increase our mileage as compared to playing in the lower division therefore we will fight and accumulate more points to remain in the BFL,” he added.
