Psssst! Have you heard? Gatwe our former president Ian Khama on Saturday spoke at a political rally in Serowe where he told his listeners gore ene he does not like people who take him to court! Before you get excited about him returning to Botswana, gatwe he was on a cellphone loudspeaker, a bua from South Africa. Imagine Khama saying he doesnt like people who take him to court! Bathong Kgosikgolo oa berekwa! He was saying this on the backdrop of a week he lost a High Court case in Johannesburg, where he was challenging the constitutionality of a section of the South African Extradition Act after the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) in that country rejected his plea for them to help him counter any attempts by Botswana government to arrest him. Akere he had anticipated an extradition order could be made against him and wanted to avoid the embarrassment of serving time in jail, but when the NPA rejected his plea, citing a relevant section of the Extradition Act, Khama went to the Johannesburg High Court to challenge the constitutionality of that section. He likes taking people to court! Yet on Saturday he expressed disdain for the BPF President Biggie Butale who recently took him and others to court. Imagine a whole party President attacked in a rally he was addressing – by a Patron! Now we know why the late Gomolemo Motswaledi never stood a chance against Khama. He took Khama to court! We know what happened to his political career!
