WORLD FOOD DAY COMMEMORATED
Botswana joins the rest of the world on World Food Day today (Wednesday), to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity and agricultural production. Foodborne diseases affect one in 10 people worldwide each year and to that effect, the World Health Organisation (WHO) partners with countries to enhance the capacity to prevent, detect and respond to public health threats associated with unsafe food at the global and country level. The theme this year is, “Food Standards Save Lives”.
