BoKopano Health Expedition planned for Kasane

BY IRENE SHONE

BoKopano Health Expedition is expected to present a glamorous yet healthy and lifestyle retreat in August this year in Kasane.

This fun-filled event is targeted at taking responsibility in addressing lifestyle diseases, by creating awareness and inform people on them while also utilizing available fun activities they have.

PR and Communications Manager at BoKopano Health Expedition, Dintle James said this initiative was prompted by the devastating negative impacts of Covid-19 on people’s mental and physical health.

They have prepared a variety of packages for people to choose from and enjoy their selected retreat package of their own choice. The packages have been named in Setswana using names of the big five found in the tourist destination of Kasane in the Chobe Game Reserve.

They include; Tshukudu package which offers; Zumba, mental health, deluxe boat cruise, quad biking, music festival for two days.

Tau package allows double or single budget and offers transport and three nights accommodation, health checks, gala dinner and shuttles for various activities. Letlotse package has boat cruising sessions and scenic flights for those who enjoy heights. There would also be trips to the crocodile farm, snake park and the game drive within the Chobe National Park. Head Coordinator of the event, Daniel Moeng said there couldn’t be any better place to host their inaugural event than at Chobe. “We want people to refresh and enjoy the wildlife and vegetation that this country has to offer and see the deep waters of the almighty Chobe river for relaxation,” he said, adding that

this is a therapeutic event. Moeng said through this event they wish to empower people to change their lifestyle to live better. There would be dieticians, mental health lecturers and psychologists among other professionals to address mental health issues and offer nutritional counseling, as well as diet plans. Moeng is of the view that obesity and sugar diabetes lifestyle diseases are common in Botswana and therefore the event would be a onestop-show for people to learn while they also exercise, eat healthy and refresh. This would be a three-day event and Moeng said they have a payment plan for people to start planning for the event as early as now. He reiterated that their main games would be; Yoga masterclass for releasing stress, marshal arts and aerobics masterclass. They are hopeful to make this lifestyle event an annual occasion.
