This week’s saga around the BBS Bank logo took a curious twist when the bank’s spokesperson Sipho Showa responded and within his response he mentioned that they had wanted the logo to reflect the two Bs and the S. Many, including us at the Magatwe Crew struggled to see the S. Tried as we could to turn the logo sideways and upside down, the S just wouldn’t show up. Random passers-by we asked to figure out where the S could be in the logo could neither find it. Until one of the guys came up with an intelligent conclusion that had all of us nodding in agreement. The guy figured out that actually the S in BBS is silent. That was the only time Showa’s offering made sense. The BBS having been derived from Botswana Building Society, the genius within us suggested that the bank could no longer be called a Society, and concluded the BB stands for Botswana Bank. Smart guy neh?
