BECI EQUIPS TLOANENG PRIMARY SCHOOL

In its endeavors to empower local communities through its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative, Export Credit Insurance and Guarantee Company Botswana (BECI) furnish Tloaneng Primary School with student tables.

Through its annual donation, BECI continues to impact the lives of people in the communities it operate in. Handing over the tables on Friday, BECI General Manager, Cowell Habana said they decided to help the school with furniture because they wanted to contribute to students development.

“One of our community empowerment initiatives is empowering students through stationery and other resources.

We chose this school because is within our zone of our business operations and we wanted to equip students with resources that will help improve their performance.” He said the company will continue its spirit of empowering communities and improving the livelihoods. BECI is the only credit insurer in Botswana, and is a private company founded in 1996. It is wholly owned by Botswana Development Corporation Limited (BDC). BECI’s primary function is to develop and equip businesses with Trade Credit Insurance policies to protect them from the danger of non-payment by credit customers. In addition, the company now offers a selection of business growth tools, such as Construction Bonds and Guarantees. The school, which currently has 283 students, was largely affected by inadequate furniture, forcing students to share tables during examinations.

Receiving the donation, Tloaneng Primary School Head, Magdalene Molefi said Tloaneng is a small school with only seven classes and it has always been a high performing school but they were having challenges with inadequate resources. “We are trying to make ends meet with the little resources we have.

Students were sitting in pairs on one table and now through the goodwill of BECI this challenge is now averted. We are thankful to BECI.” Giving vote of thanks, Private Secretary for the Ministry of Defense and Security Karabo Lewatle commended

BECI for their efforts to contribute to empowering communities and improving the education sector. “This is a beautiful gesture to see companies coming on board in support of government’s efforts to build knowledge based economy. This effort by BECI will encourage students to improve their performances”

Mmankgodi North councilor, Dux Mafoko thanked BECI their contribution in improving student’s performance. He urged the company to continue with the spirit of giving. “Our council budget is never enough to meet the needs of all 29 schools in our constituency, so we are very grateful to receive such equipments from BECI, they have reduced our challenges in the constituency.”
