Systems targeting Top 4

BY ISAAC PHEKO

After six games, four wins and twelve points in the 2022/23 Botswana Football League season, the Tlokweng outfit, Security Systems could not have asked for a better start to the season. With a mix of age and youth, Systems are planning to take one game at a time with 4th place on their radar at the end of the season.

In a post-match interview after defeating 1-0 Nico United at the Molepolole Sports Complex, this past weekend, Systems coach Kaelo ‘Wire’ Kaelo said they are not worried about their current position in the log standings. “The most important thing for us is to keep going, play one game at a time and see what happens. We have to look at our own selves and make sure that we get the performance. When we play well, we get the confidence, and when motivation is high the chances are that we will easily get the goals.”

Kaelo continued: “We know that at the end of the league we have to be somewhere in the top 8 because the last season we got sixth position and this time around we need to finish in the top four. I know that it will be difficult because we started badly by getting double losses but we are coming back. The good thing about our team is that we got three wins in a row with Michael Masule, a goal keeper that has never played in the past four season.” Kaelo said Masule is enjoying good form at the current moment as he got a clean sheet in previous games they played in Sowa, Serowe and Molepolole. “Our next game is against Eleven Angels in Gaborone. I don’t know if we will be playing in this ground (Molepolole), it’s horrible.” The Eleven Angels encounter will be followed by Holy Ghost and Orapa United. Kaelo continued to vent his frustration with the pitch at Molepolole: “The ground is not good, and if you start the game at four, it is unplayable and very hot, so BFL should have a serious look at this ground, and they will probably reconsider their decision to fixture games there.”

Regarding his thoughts on the game against Nico, Kaelo said: “It was a good win, Nico were better than us in performance, they started very well, we started very late.” Kaelo said : “It was important that when they were playing well, we managed to get a goal. We were better on the second half, we tried to change the shape of the middle field went with a diamond shape and started well although had bad habit of not keeping the ball, something we corrected with substitutes.”
