Seminar on soft skills billed

SUN REPORTER

Progressive Institute has regretted the country’s stagnant progress of human resource, attributing the development to lack of adequate preparation and skills.

The human resources company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mmoloki Mmolotsi said through its engagements with a number of employed and nonemployment clients, Progressive Institute has observed failure to progress through the career ladder. He said lack of soft skills such as self-marketing and presentation through application letters, CVs and personal image and presentations is a challenge. As part of efforts to close the progression gap, Progressive Institute has organized a seminar to be held under the banner: ‘Jumpstart Your career to greater heights in a changing world of work’. “There is always a huge number of employed young Batswana looking to secure higher and better rewarding jobs through cross company recruitment and internal promotions,” said Mmolotsi, highlighting that the Employability and Work Readiness Seminar will be held this week in partnership with Botswana Public Officers Medical Aid Scheme (BOPMAS). He further highlighted that a panel of speakers billed for the event will share decades of work in the field to reveal how to think about best practice, what it takes to remain competitive in a changing workplace and how to win in the transformed global economic imperative. Currently, the unemployment rate was 24.5 percent in 2021 and is expected to reach 26 percent by year end.
