Cassie Paul told Vibe that it is important for women and girls to know that they are enough as they were made in the image of God, and use their poetry talent to uplift their lives and those of the people around them.

She said that she was fortunate enough to have been raised in a home where she was encouraged to be true to herself, raised by a single mother in Gumare where she was born and bred. From a young age, her colourful personality attracted many people to her, and she felt the need to use her gift from God to bring people together and also encourage women and girls to strive to make a difference in their lives and make impact through their talent. “When I sing and minister, I speak to the spirit and want to touch the hearts and minds of people and inspire them to grow and evolve to being the best version of themselves,” she said. Cassie Paul said that music is powerful and has the advantage of influencing others to step up and utilise their talent. “I am bold enough to use my talent and I want others to shine brightly without being apologetic because in this world there there is room for everyone to shine,” she said.

Poet Poloko Otlogetswe, who goes by the stage name, Paul Light Speaks, said that she had taken time to discover her talent and when she did, she decided to radiate love and use it to spread positive vibes. “I knew from the word go that God wants me to use my talent with words to encourage and motivate others to be comfortable in their skin, to accept life as it comes and to always be motivated to be the best version of themselves,” she said. Paul Light Speaks also said that women and girls are powerful and the limitations of cultural gender norms and sexism should not limit them. “As women we are called to carry the weight of the world and also help others to grow and shine unapologetically,” she said. She recited a beautiful poem on overcoming challenges and continuing to shine brightly and be the best version of yourself regardless of whatever punches life throws your way.
