After conceptualising MmaBotswana two years ago, talented fine artist and fashion designer, Wabi Blues says she has added another product under the stable called Makgatlhanna Thapong Gameland.

The product was initiated as part of the activations towards the official launch of MmaBotswana billed for September during Independence Day.

Wabie Blues, born Tshegofatso Tlholwe, said Makgatlhanna Thapong Gameland is a product under MmaBotswana that entails of variety of readily existing fascinating games like Card games, Monopoly, Snake & Ladder, Mohele, to name but a few. She said they intend to start the latest product in August as preparations for MmaBotswana launch get underway.

She explained that the games are structured such that all the props used in the games are physically exaggerated into giant size items. “The decorations pop out massively as the stage set to gain audience attraction. We hope to start the launch with Phase 1-3. Each game set has its own decorations, its own instructors, and ushers to coordinate the games properly. The games played under card games are Casino, Five Cards, Mosadimogolo and more that we’ve invented,” she said. Wabie Blues said all the games have instructors. She said part of their mandate is to create employment for over 50 youths.

“As Mmabotswana, our main goal is to create job opportunities for the youth so that we tackle the issue of unemployment in this country.

When building this project, besides unemployment issues, we wanted to create a fun space that will keep people busy from their day-to-day problems and bring people together,” she said.

However, she said that has not been easy due to COVID-19 and now people need something that could lift their spirits.

Wabi Blues also said they are continuously exploring the MmaBotswana brand looking at various projects such as movies, animations and reality TV shows, and charitable jobs. “MmaBotswana has a voice and we are trying to raise that voice and come out of the shell,” she revealed.

As a visual artist, Wabi Blues specialises in portraitures and other figurative works.
