‘Kgosi Mosadi never planned PAP exit’

MOMPATI TLHANKANE Staff Writer

Kgosi Mosadi Seboko’s deputy and uncle Kgosi Tsimane Mokgosi says allegations that Kgosi Mosadi was reluctant to continue as the member of Pan African Parliament (PAP) committee are unfounded and untrue because she never expressed any desire to do so.

On Tuesday, Parliament removed Kgosi Mosadi from the committee and replaced her with Specially Elected Member of Parliament, Unity Dow who has since rejected the appointment.

This was barely a week after Kgosi Mosadi had expressed that not many people were happy with the Balete victory at the highest court in the land. Last week the Court of Appeal (CoA) asserted last year’s High Court’s decision to grant Bamalete tribe ownership of their valuable prime piece of land called Forest Hill 9-KO.

In an interview with Mmegi yesterday, Kgosi Tsimane said the whole thing was based on rumours, which were orchestrated to push a false narrative. “I see it as nothing but maladministration.

There was no procedure followed because had Kgosi Mosadi been reluctant to continue, she would have sent an official communication to Parliament,” he said. Kgosi Tsimane also said the identity of the person who misinformed Parliament that Kgosi Mosadi was planning to resign from the committee should be revealed.

He said as Kgosi Mosadi’s deputy, there is no way he could have not known about her impending resignation. Furthermore, he said as Bamalete tribe they have accepted that Kgosi Mosadi has on many occasions been engaged on assignments

outside the country. “Kgosi Mosadi is not always around, yes, but we have never told her to stop serving the nation,” he emphasised.

Kgosi Tsimane added that Kgosi Mosadi herself had told the tribe that at some point she will reduce her load of roles but the Kgosi did not say anything specific nor has ever mentioned the PAP. Kgosi Tsimane said even though their area Member of Parliament Lefoko Moagi said he had voted with the opposition in favour of Kgosi Mosadi’s stay in the PAP committee, they cannot deny that Kgosi Mosadi’s removal was politically motivated. He said this was meant to frustrate Bamalete after their CoA victory last week.

While many anticipate that the removal of Kgosi Mosadi might be the beginning of more sabotage against the Bamalete, Kgosi Tsimane said they have no reason to be worried because the law is there to tackle any challenge like they did with their land case. He said they do not anticipate any blacklisting from the government because they have done nothing wrong and will not break any law in the future. Following Kgosi Mosadi’s removal, some feel that it is only the beginning for Balete because they government might bring fourth more bottlenecks to frustrate the tribe from the south eastern part.
