Moleps gig on the cards

STAFF WRITER

The second biggest village in Botswana, Molepolole, will this festive host what will probably be the biggest village’s party ever. The event, dubbed Moleps City Fest will be held on December 23 at the Molepolole Sports Complex and promises to bring a huge party to the Kweneng capital. With much of homegrown talent, there is none other than the local Hip Hop heavyweight, Scar, who will be make a homecoming appearance at his native village.

Scar has proven to be one of the best locally brewed artists with many hits under his belt. Scar is joined by none other than the talented artist, ATI as one of the headliners. ATI remains one of the popular figures in the local music scene and is a definite crowd puller wherever he performs. For the millennials and the young at heart, ATI never misses their adulation.

He proved his popularity when he hosted a successful one man show in Francistown, filling up the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium to the brim. The festival will also feature South African sensation Toss of the Umlando fame and expected to get revellers dancing all night long.

One not to be missed is Fortunator of song of the year contender Hama Thuthu Banga. On the Decks will be local trio FME DJs, Casper the DJ, DJ Rudo, DJ Bunny and a whole host of local performers.

There will be many other Molepolole-born artists in the line-up for the village to celebrate their own in their own way in a festive set-up. The likes of MC Moleps Maradona, MC Leah will be alongside MC Theo and BJB making the show one with the best MCs in the land.

According to the organisers, this is more like a home coming fiesta for the people of Molepolole. Despite being one of the biggest villages in the country, Molepolole does not have a big music festival that has been successful and sustained over the years.
